Day 1 - Milan
Milan

Arrive freely in Milan and enjoy the welcome of your driver at the station or airport for a transfer to your hotel in the city centre.

The afternoon is free to explore the Lombardy capital at your own pace. Start at the Duomo Square and the magnificent Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cathedral before marveling at the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II.

End your first day in the Navigli district, along the canals partly designed by Leonardo da Vinci, and enjoy an aperitivo at one of the many restaurants.

Option: opera evening at La Scala in Milan (on request).

Day 2 - Milan
Milan

Enjoy your free morning in Milan to visit the Brera Art Gallery, where you’ll admire works by great artists such as Tintoretto and Raphael. Then head to the Leonardo da Vinci Museum of Science and Technology, one of the largest science-and-technology museums in the world, dedicated to the genius of Leonardo da Vinci.

For a modern atmosphere, visit Gae Aulenti Square, a futuristic architectural complex near the main railway station.

In the afternoon, begin your train trip in Italy by taking the Milan–Bologna train. On arrival, check in to the hotel and enjoy the afternoon exploring Bologna’s historic centre: the Piazza Maggiore, the Alma Mater Studiorum building, the Asinelli Tower, and discover Little Venice (Piccola Venezia) with the famous window overlooking the Canal della Moline.

End the day by enjoying bolognese spaghetti prepared using the authentic recipe at one of the city’s restaurants.

Day 3 - Bologna
Bologne

Dedicate the day to visiting Parma, less than an hour by train, famous for its gourmet products such as Culatello di Zibello ham and Parmigiano Reggiano.

Admire the religious buildings dating back to the 12th and 13th centuries, such as the Baptistery, the Cathedral, and the Bishop’s Palace. Visit the Palatine Library and the National Gallery at the Palazzo della Pilotta, as well as the majestic Royal Theatre (Teatro Regio).

Savour a coffee or local specialities at Garibaldi Square. Return to Bologna in the afternoon (flexible times).

Day 4 - Florence
Florence

After breakfast, walk to the station for your departure to Florence by day train.

Arrive in Florence, free transfer to the hotel (about 5 minutes on foot).

Explore the capital of Tuscany freely, the birthplace of the Renaissance. Cross the Ponte Vecchio, one of the oldest bridges spanning the Arno, offering a wonderful viewpoint. Continue up to Piazzale Michelangelo at the top of the hill for a splendid view over Florence.

Day 5 - Florence
Florence

Enjoy a free day to keep discovering the birthplace of the Renaissance and the old capital of Italy, Florence.

Visit ideas:

  • Admire the Hall of the Five Hundred at the Palazzo Vecchio and climb to the top of the tower for a panoramic view of Florence.
  • See the Birth of Venus and Spring by Botticelli at the Uffizi Gallery.
  • Visit the Accademia Gallery to see Michelangelo’s sculptures.
  • Discover the Pitti Palace and its Palatine Gallery with works by Raphael, Titian and Rubens.
  • Relax in the Boboli Gardens.

Day 6 - Pisa
Pise

Set off early by regional train to discover Pisa, famous for its Leaning Tower.

Visit the highlights: the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Square of Miracles, the Catedral of Notre-Dame of the Assumption, and the St John’s Baptistery with its exceptional acoustics.

Discover the church Santa Maria della Spina and the facade of the Palazzo degli Anziani on Piazza dei Cavalieri. If time allows, explore the Blue Palace, home to Pisan artworks from the 14th to the 20th centuries.

Return to Florence in late afternoon.

Day 7 - Rome
Rome

Walk freely to the station for departure on the Frecciarossa train to Rome (journey of about 1h30). On arrival, transfer on foot to the hotel.

Explore Rome by going down the Spanish Steps (Trinità dei Monti) and strolling through the cobbled streets of the historic centre. Admire architectural treasures such as the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, the Capitoline Hill, and the Roman Forum.

Spend the night at the hotel in Rome (breakfast).

Day 8 - Rome
Rome

Spend your free day in Rome visiting the Vatican, seat of the Roman Catholic Church. Start at the St Peter’s Basilica, then explore the Vatican Museums, which include 12 museums, five galleries and 1,400 rooms, including the famous Sistine Chapel.

If the weather allows, return to the centre of Rome on foot via the colourful Trastevere district, with its typical trattorias, craft shops and medieval buildings.

Day 9 - Naples
Naples

Set off early for Naples, and in just 2h30 you’ll find yourself in the atmosphere of the South.

Leave your luggage at the hotel reception and start discovering this city rich in history. Each neighbourhood features impressive landmarks such as the Castel Nuovo, the San Carlo Theatre, Plebiscito Square, the Royal Palace, Castel dell’Ovo, and the Posillipo viewpoint.

Stroll through the lively neighbourhoods of the historic centre, especially the Spaccanapoli district, the city’s main street. Explore the bustling streets and admire baroque buildings such as the Church of Gesù Nuovo and Gothic landmarks like the Basilica of Saint Clare.

Day 10 - Pompeii
Pompei

After breakfast, release your room and leave your luggage at the hotel reception.

Dedicate the day to visiting the Pompéi excavations. In the morning, take a train to Pompeii (tickets available at Naples station), a vast archaeological site buried under Mount Vesuvius’ ashes. The journey takes just 30 minutes.

Explore the Pompeii Archaeological Park, including the Forum, the Amphitheatre, the Villa of the Mysteries and the House of the Faun, one of the most luxurious aristocratic houses of the Roman republic.

Return to Naples in the afternoon for free time before continuing your train journey. Settle comfortably into your 4-bunk compartment for an overnight journey. At Villa San Giovanni, the train will board the ferry for a short crossing to Sicily.

Day 11 - Palermo
Palerme

Breakfast on board the train before you arrive in Palermo.

Spend the day exploring the city. Discover the Piazza Indipendenza, the Palace of the Normans which houses the Sicilian parliament, the Palatine Chapel, the Church of Saint John of the Hermits, and Piazza Pretoria with one of the most beautiful fountains in Sicily. Admire the facades of the Quattro Canti square and the ancient palm-adorned churches on Piazza Bellini.

For lunch, visit the Mercato del Capo market and sample Palermo’s panelles (chickpea fritters).

Un voyage formidable, merci à Romane et Salomé pour nous avoir préparé un programme personnalisé sur 11 jours dans de belles ville d'Europe : Vienne/Venise/Rome/Florence/Milan avec des trains de nuits , de superbes Hôtels idéalement placés, de précieux conseils de visite ou de restauration, une réactivité exceptionnelle. Bref un voyage l'esprit tranquille, réglé au millimètre avec un rapport qualité prix très attractifs. C'était notre première expérience et nous projetons déjà les voyages suivants avec eux. Le voyage était superbe, merci vraiment pour ce beau programme que vous nous avez concocté. Les hôtels, toujours très proches des gares, étaient très pratiques et de très bonne qualité. Tous ont proposé de superbes petits-déjeuners appréciables. Les paysages traversés sont magnifiques et nous en avons pris plein les yeux. Seul petit bémol, je ne comprends pas pourquoi vous ne nous avez pas commandé le beau temps !! Il aurait fait un beau ciel bleu pour le Bernina Express, je pense que les paysages auraient été superbes, mais la neige au col de la Bernina avait quand même un certain charme au mois de juin !! Super moment sur le bateau avant d'aller prendre le Gothard Panorama, et merci pour la réservation de la table, c'était top. Pour les villes, nous avons surtout apprécié Lucerne qui est une ville magnifique. Peut-être que Lugano par très beau temps est également agréable, mais du coup nous n'avons pas pris de train à crémaillère pour admirer le paysage, le ciel était trop bouché. Voila de bonnes raisons de revenir dans ces coins une autre fois ! Merci encore pour tout, et pour le professionnalisme de votre société que nous recommanderons. Au plaisir pour une autre escapade.

Nous venons de faire le circuit "glacier express"a travers la Suisse, en passant par Montreux, Zermatt, Coire et Zurich. Une organisation parfaite avant et pendant le séjour, avec de très bons conseils.Un voyage très paisible à travers des paysages magnifiques. Il n'y a rien à redire, aussi bien concernant les hôtels que les trains, le Travel pass qui permet de prendre tous les transports, le programme détaillé sans mauvaise surprise. Merci pour votre sérieux et votre amabilité. Un très belle première expérience de voyage en train, à refaire sur une nouvelle destination dès que possible.

Nous revenons tout juste du "grand tour des sommets " en Suisse, ce fût fabuleux, les paysages sont à couper le souffle, les trains du programme sont spacieux et le personnel aux petits soins, avec une préférence pour le Bernina et son fantastique bus avec la belle découverte du lac de Côme. Nous avons apprécié tous les trains et l'organisation du voyage. Yulia a tout bien organisé et m'a rassurée sur tout le déroulement du séjour, de ce traintrip, une façon bien originale et agréable de découvrir et parcourir la Suisse qui est magnifique ; Malgré tous les voyages faits, celui-ci tient une place particulière pour un voyage si particulier. Sans oublier les hôtels, très propres avec une bonne literie. Notre voyage n'aurait pas été aussi réussi sans Yulia que je remercie. Je recommande vivement ce circuit, rien à redire.
