Etchmiadzine
(43 km / 1h10 by car / 10 hours by train)
In the morning, the driver picks you up from the hotel to take you to Etchmiadzin. Free time to visit the Etchmiadzin Cathedral, the spiritual center of the Armenian Apostolic Church. Etchmiadzin Cathedral is listed as UNESCO World Heritage. Visit the site of Zvartnots, built between 642 and 662. It was partially destroyed by a devastating earthquake after 300 years of use.
Free afternoon.
Option: City tour of Yerevan and discovery of the Matenadaran Institute of Ancient Manuscripts. It is one of the richest repositories of manuscripts and medieval books. Visit the Cascade or the l’Art Cafesjian Center. The Cafesjian Sculpture Garden is located at the entrance and features one of the finest sculpture collections by renowned artists such as Fernando Botero, Jaume Plensa and Barry Flanagan. You can climb to the top and enjoy the panoramic view over the city.
Transfer to the station and departure by train to Tbilisi in the evening. Your overnight train journey between Armenia and Georgia begins.

Arrive in Tbilisi early in the morning. Transfer to the hotel. Free breakfast.
Enjoy a free day in Tbilisi to stroll through this charming capital, where the East meets the West. Explore the old town with its cobbled lanes, houses with wooden balconies, and ancient churches, such as the Sioni Cathedral or the Metekhi Church perched on the heights.

Batoumi

Depart for Batumi in the morning.
Arrive in Batumi in the afternoon. Transfer to the hotel. Free time to visit Batumi’s city center—a charming city on the Black Sea. Batumi is a mix of Asian and European styles. In recent years, Batumi has seen many changes and has transformed into a modern city with a busy day-to-day life, especially during the summer. Free lunch. Free day. Adjara

Today you discover mountainous Adjara, which is less well-known but very interesting and authentic. The French-speaking guide picks you up at the hotel reception. Depart for the municipality of Khelvachaouri and the Machakhela Valley, part of which is currently located in Turkish territory, while the other part is in Georgia. You’ll admire the typical houses, unspoiled nature, and local handmade products, but most importantly, the chance to meet local people. Lunch on site with typical dishes (Borano, Sinori, etc.).
Return to Batumi. Free evening.

Koutaissi

Breakfast. Early departure by car to Kutaisi with your driver. Kutaisi is the second most important city in Georgia thanks to its cultural and historical role. Meet a French-speaking guide in Kutaisi and continue to the Gelati Monastery (built in the 11th century). Visit the church and return to Kutaisi. Free lunch. Free time in Kutaisi. Dinner.
Option: Visit the Bagrati Cathedral (11th c.), recently renovated, symbols of the city.
Walk around the old quarter of Kutaisi.

Gori
(train + 28 km / 45 minutes by car)
Breakfast. Don’t miss the local market in Kutaisi, where you can find local produce. Consider buying your snack for the train there.
Depart by train to Gori around midday.
Arrive in Gori in the evening. The driver welcomes you and takes you to Ouplistsikhe—the ancient market town from the 1st century. Nicknamed the “fortress of the lord,” this ancient troglodyte city carved into the rock has been inhabited since the Iron Age and was an important political and religious center up until the Middle Ages.
The panoramic view is spectacular, and the atmosphere is truly unique: you literally walk in the footsteps of a civilization more than 3,000 years old. Audio guides are available on site.
Return to Gori. Dinner with a local family.

Kazbegui

Breakfast. In the morning, the option to visit the Stalin Museum, which includes a large museum, his birthplace home, and the armored train carriage. Free lunch. You then set off to discover the famous “Mythical Caucasus”—Kazbegi, a village at the foot of Mount Kazbek, one of the three peaks of the Caucasus range, standing at an altitude of 5,395 m. Stop along the way to visit Ananouri, a princely fortress from the 16th century.
Arrival in Kazbgui, where you change vehicles for a 4×4 that takes you to the Trinity Church (2170 m).
Dinner with a Khinkali cooking workshop.

Tbilissi

Option: You can choose a hike in the Truso Valley with an English-speaking guide—combining travel by 4×4 + a 3–4 hour walk with a free picnic.
You then head down to Mtskheta, where the French-speaking guide is waiting for you. Let’s begin by discovering Georgia’s ancient capital and visiting the great Svétiskhoveli Cathedral (the life-giving pillar) dating back to the 11th century. Free lunch. Then you go to Jvari, a magnificent 6th-century church whose architecture is very representative of the harmony of Georgia’s ancient constructions.
Return to Tbilisi; free evening.

First, you explore on foot the Georgian capital located on the banks of the Mtkvari River. You’ll discover the old town, crowned by the ruins of the Narikala fortress, with its maze of cobbled streets lined with small houses with wooden balconies, and the churches… You visit the Metekhi Church (5th–13th c.) and the famous sulfur baths. Visit the national museum with its rich collection. Climb up to Mtatsminda Mountain and discover the splendid panoramic view of Tbilisi.
