On a walking tour, you will discover the must-sees of the city: the Gate of Dawn, a remnant of the old city walls, as well as the famous Chapel of Mercy, a sacred pilgrimage site for Catholics. The upper part of the city is home to magnificent churches, including the Orthodox Church of the Holy Spirit, the Catholic Church of St Casimir, and St Theresa’s Church.
Your visit continues at the Vilnius University, where you can admire the famous Four Seasons fresco, painted in a style of magical realism. Take your time to wander through the old courtyards dating back to the 16th century.
In the afternoon, take the first train of your journey to the town of Trakai, the former capital of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Nestled in the heart of a national park adorned with 15 lakes from the glacial period, this charming town hosts a small Karaite community, an oriental minority of which only about 60 descendants remain today. You will visit the historic district, with its charming wooden houses. Return to Vilnius.
